HAVE A QUESTION ?

The answer to this FAQ is YES — it’s a common myth that all curtain fabrics hold their shape forever, but natural fibres like 100% linen and cotton will naturally change over time. These fabrics are beautiful and sought after for their texture, movement, and soft, organic appearance but being natural, they’re also highly responsive to their environment.

For example:

  • Linen and cotton can expand in warmer, humid conditions and contract in cooler, dry weather.
  • This means the finished height of your curtain may shift slightly with the seasons. Something to keep in mind if you’re aiming for precise floor clearance.

If you’re concerned about maintaining a consistent drop or a more tailored look, we recommend choosing a linen or cotton blend, where natural fibres are woven with polyester. This offers the best of both worlds, the look of natural fabric with added structure, shape retention, and durability.

What about polyester options?

Modern polyester fabrics are not only cost-effective and robust, but many are now designed to replicate the look of natural fibres — from textured linens to soft cotton finishes — and they’re often machine-washable and easier to maintain.

  • Keep in mind: Even some loose-weave polyesters may naturally relax or “drop” slightly over time due to their lower structural integrity. However, this is typically far less noticeable than with 100% natural fibres.

Our tip:

If you’re after the look of linen or cotton, but want peace of mind with how your curtains sit over time, go for a polyester blend. It’s a practical, stylish, and reliable choice that performs beautifully in most environments.
