HAVE A QUESTION ?

We offer a range of curtain heading styles, each providing a unique look and functionality. Some of the most popular options include:

  • S-fold or – S-wave – one of the more popular headings, this is a modern, seamless style with a soft, continuous wave effect, ideal for a contemporary finish.
  • Pinch Pleat – A classic, tailored look with evenly spaced pleats, available in double or triple pleats for added fullness.
  • Pencil Pleat – A versatile and budget-friendly option with a gathered, uniform pleat for a relaxed appearance.
  • Box Pleat – A structured, formal style where pleats are sewn flat, perfect for a sleek, elegant look.
  • Buttonhole – A more clinical style with a flat heading and small sewn holes for a privacy runner to pierce through.

If you’re unsure which style suits your space best, our team is happy to help you choose the perfect curtain heading to match your design and functionality needs.

We offer a variety of curtain hem styles to suit different fabrics, aesthetics, and functional needs. Here’s a breakdown of the most common hem options and when to use them:

1. Standard Double Base Hem (Approx. 10cm)

Used primarily for sheer fabrics, this hem involves folding the fabric over twice before sewing. Because sheers are see-through, a double hem conceals the stitching and provides a clean, polished finish. It also adds extra weight, helping the curtain drape beautifully.

2. Standard Single Base Hem (Approx. 10cm)

Ideal for dense or heavy blockout fabrics, this hem uses a single fold before stitching. The thickness of the fabric provides enough structure and weight, so a double fold isn’t necessary to achieve a neat look and smooth drape.

3. Rolled or “Sausage” Hem

This is a small, tight roll at the base of the curtain, often used when ceiling heights are higher than standard. It maximises the fabric’s width, allowing curtains to run seamlessly without the need for vertical joins (“drops”). This style is also a popular aesthetic choice for its minimal, clean appearance.

4. Reduced Hem (Approx. 5cm–3cm)

A smaller, minimalist version of the standard hem, this is used when a subtle look is preferred or where curtain length needs to be slightly adjusted. Both single and double reduced hems are available, depending on fabric weight.

5. Contrast Hem

A decorative finish where a contrasting colour or textured fabric is sewn onto the bottom of the curtain. This creates visual interest and can be either rolled or folded, depending on the desired effect.

6. Weighted Hems

Weights can be added to any of the above hem styles for extra stability and improved draping.

  • Continuous Lead Weights: Sewn into the hem for an even, smooth finish.
  • Corner Coin Weights: Placed in the corners to help hold shape.

Weights are ideal for light fabrics, to maintain structure, or in high wind areas where extra robustness is needed.

If you’re unsure which hem suits your curtain design or space, our team is happy to assist in selecting the best option for your needs.
