Overview
REILLYS was engaged by Novati Constructions to deliver the complete window and soft furnishings package for the newly redeveloped San Antonio Da Padova Nursing Home, a $32 million aged care facility in Ryde. Designed to enhance comfort, dignity, and community connection, the project was more than a fit-out, it was a considered design collaboration that prioritised functionality, longevity, and the lived experience of both residents and staff.
Our Scope of Works:
As a one-stop solution for soft furnishings, REILLYS proudly delivered:
- Sheer curtains and tracks to all resident rooms
- Privacy curtains and tracks to all double rooms
- Bedspreads to all resident rooms
- Throw cushions for both resident rooms and common areas
- Picture rails in all resident rooms
- Acoustic artwork in all common areas
Designing for Real Life
Working closely with Novati and the client, we focused on the real-world use of every product. While achieving a beautiful finish at handover is important, true success in aged care design is about maintaining that standard once the facility is operational. Curtains that are difficult to clean, hard to rehang, or mismatched over time can quickly degrade the aesthetic. Our solutions were crafted to help staff keep the space looking as good as it did on day one.
Key Considerations:
- Curtain drop tolerances ensured all sheers and blockouts sat between 100mm–130mm off the floor, as requested by the client for easy cleaning and consistency.
- Colour-coded tracking systems allowed staff to easily match curtains to the correct tracks post-laundering. Four colour codes were used across the facility for efficient identification.
- Universal reusability: Privacy curtains were designed to be interchangeable across rooms, simplifying maintenance and eliminating mismatched finishes.
Innovative Bed Screen Design
A standout feature was our custom-designed bed screens, developed in collaboration with fabric consultants Materialised. These featured a fixed mesh top for airflow and infection control, with a lower fabric panel that can be unbuttoned and laundered separately.
This approach:
- Reduced wear and tear from frequent removals
- Maintained airflow and hygiene standards
- Enabled complete interchangeability, regardless of fabric panel size or room layout
