Detail That Makes a Difference

The new Acute Services Building forms part of the $890 million John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct, expanding healthcare services for Newcastle, the Hunter and northern NSW. Designed by BVN Architecture and built by Multiplex, the seven-storey facility brings together emergency, surgical, intensive care, maternity and neonatal services.

Engaged by Stephen Edwards Constructions, Reillys provided integral venetian blinds for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, completing its package in 2026.

Considered from the inside out

Within a paediatric intensive care setting, privacy needs to be considered alongside staff observation and light control. Integral venetian blinds sit within the glazing, allowing visibility to be adjusted without an exposed blind within the room.

Achieving a practical result starts with the detail: the glazing configuration, required coverage, control position and how the system will be operated in everyday use. These decisions need early coordination with the glazing and surrounding fitout, with future maintenance access considered from the outset.

For builders and architects, resolving these requirements early helps avoid difficult changes later. Reillys brings specialist product knowledge to that process, helping translate the requirements of the space into a carefully considered furnishing solution.
