On this National Family Business Day, I’ve been reflecting on what makes Reillys not just a business, but a legacy. When my dad, David Reilly, founded the company back in 2003, he built it on the values he lived by: trust, loyalty, and putting people first. More than 20 years later, those values remain our compass and they’ve helped us grow into something far greater than he ever imagined.
Different Strengths, One Vision
People often ask what it’s like working with my siblings and dad. The truth is, it works because we are so different. Each of us has naturally fallen into a role where we thrive.
Duncan leads sales and strategy, with years of hands-on installation experience and his building background, he speaks the language of our commercial customers and knows our product inside out. He’s the bridge between practical solutions and customer trust.
Jill our COO, drives process innovation and business operations with precision and vision. She ensures the business not only runs smoothly but constantly evolves.
Cal is our innovator, with a technical mind and deep understanding of our product. He now leads R&D, focusing on new ideas and enhancements that strengthen our offering and support the future direction of the industry.
For me, as CEO, I love being in the driver’s seat, setting strategy, steering outcomes, celebrating wins, and guiding our people in the right direction. I thrive on motivating our team, making the hard calls, and ensuring our business keeps moving forward.
And then there’s Dad. He was the original brains, the one who laid the foundation. Now he gets to step back and watch us grow, seeing the vision he started become something even bigger as we each bring our strengths to the table.
Building Something Bigger
What I’m most proud of is that Reillys has never just been about window furnishings. It’s about people. Our family, yes, but also our team, who we see as an extension of that family. Together, we’ve created an environment where people are supported, celebrated, and inspired to do their best work. That’s what gives us our edge. Businesses can have the best products in the world, but without the right people, they’ll never achieve lasting success.
The Power of Family
After 22 years, we’ve only just begun. Our business is growing, our team is thriving, and our foundation has never been stronger. Dad always says, “The best part about my job is seeing my children thrive every day.” And now, as I look at where we are and where we’re going, I understand exactly what he means.
Family is everything. It’s not just who we are, it’s how we work, how we grow, and how we’ll continue to shape the future.
